I sank most of my Acme paychecks into a nitro powered R/C car in my pre-driver’s license days. It was fun but it seems as if you almost always have to fiddle with something to get the car to run correctly. That never seemed to be the case with the electric ones. Sure good batteries are expensive, but there is no carb tuning etc...
Now that I have a decent sized back yard I need a toy! I’ve been eyeing the HPI Savage HP. Anyone have one, or any other electric monster truck?

The Savage Flux is good, tons of hop-up parts. I Have an RC18MT truck converted to drift, but I would love something for gravel and dirt. Maybe a short course electric truck, or a Savage cause I cant afford a E-Revo yet haha.

I’m the same, love my Traxxas Revo but it’s such a pain the ass to keep running well, my brother has it now and is meant to be getting it running right, I expect him to loose interest in it quickly.
Now a battery powered off road rc truck sounds fun........

Yea I’m sitting on 3 nitro RC’s. Two HPI Nitro RS4’s, and a T-Maxx. They’re nearly 15 years old at this point, but I can still get the T-Maxx and one of the RS4’s running with a little tinkering.
I wan’t something I can toss a battery in and go. $650 (for the Savage HP) is steep though. Doing my best to find a used one.

I know, you don’t use them for a while, they were running fine when you last used them, you drained the fuel out, run oil thru the motor etc but next time you fire them up they run like shit cos it’s slightly warmer than the last time so you spend an hour messing with the mixture, new plug etc etc, it gets old very quickly!
I’ve been looking for a used battery one as well cos they fun, do love the noise of my Revo though, battery ones don’t have that!

Electric RC cars are money buckets to call it at the least. The best way to go is to buy a used one with a nice brushless system and LiPos and balance charger that has been hit with the deprication curve. My friend had a Traxxas Rustler that he bought with a brushed system that ended up to be a Lipo powered Mamba Max motor beast (aka super fast acceleration and 80+ MPH). He had invested over 1200 into it, ended up selling it for 500 on eBay. Buy used. Save your waller

I looked for a used electric one, but most of the ones on craigslist by me had sellers that didnt respond. I ended up finding a brushed Traxxas E-Revo 1/10 scale on ebay NIB for around $240, and Im going to do the brushless upgrade myself. Ends up being cheaper than the brushless, not massive difference, but for my use (having fun with my friend and his son, and other oppos when the opportunity arises) its perfect out of the box until I want to upgrade. I have two real cars to pay for, so I wanted to keep it cheap, durable and fun. I dont need the fastest thing, I just wanted something I could use outside without worrying about breaking that easily.

I’m trying to find one used, but pickings are slim. Theres on on craigslist near me for 450 w two batteries and a charger, but the seller has not responded. Only saw one on Ebay and it came with nothing.

I've got a Redcat Volcano that I wrote about a while ago. If you're looking for something fast or powerful or something, stay away from Redcat. However, if you want something cheap ($200) just to bash and have fun in with relatively little maintenance, you can't go wrong with a Volcano in my opinion.

I actually have an electric 2wd one that I need to sell as I never use it. Not an expensive one but it works good
